Colinda Jansen - van den Berg

Colinda Jansen - van den Berg would prefer to go home only when her work is completely finished. “But that’s actually impossible,” she says. “As a quality worker, I’m never finished. There’s always something to improve. And even when I think I’ve finished, something often happens that means I still have to make some adjustments.”

One day she is working at home on her computer, and the next, she is consulting colleagues or analysing ingredient samples in the lab. “My activities are very diverse, and that’s what makes my job so enjoyable. I haven’t been in this job for very long, and there’s still a lot to learn. I am given plenty of space to do that; there’s so much knowledge within the VanDrie Group. The idea is that soon I will do most things myself. For now, I am focused on growing.”

The birth of her infant son turned Colinda's life upside down. “What I feel since he came into my life, I have never felt before. My sense of responsibility has grown enormously. In everything I do, in every decision I take, I think about the consequences for him and the future.” That sense of responsibility is also reflected in her work. “At the end of the day, it is not about whether the procedures are correct on paper but whether things are running smoothly at the relevant site. What we in the Quality department want must be workable and attainable. We are collectively responsible for that as a team.”

Colinda relaxes by reading a good book or watching a series. “I can then completely shut myself off from the rest of the world for a while. But I am also very competitive. Happily, I can get that out of my system by playing korfball, which I have been doing since I was twelve years old.”
